Echoing His Majesty

Saturday, March 10, 2012, was a marathon CONCERT DAY FOR HIS VOICE. The Christian men's chorus traveled from their homes all over the Inland Empire to three congregations in Redlands, plus a senior center in Loma Linda, and then south to the city of Temecula for an evening concert. At first glance, one might say, "Wait a minute, they aren't spring chickens anymore!" But really the day became one of those amazing days when each successive concert seemed to strengthen the men and enliven their listeners.

.
First stop for the morning was at the MISSION ROAD SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH  temporarily moved to 721 Nevada Street in Redlands, while the the Japanese and English speaking congregations raise funds to build a new sanctuary back at their previous location on Mission Road. His Voice tenor Bob Ferguson greeted the congregation in Japanese and the men's chorus sang several hymns. Then His Voice walked next door to the English congregation for a full worship concert.

After a bountiful fellowship meal with the Japanese congregations, His Voice caravanned to Redlands for the 12th anniversary celebration of the INLAND EMPIRE FILIPINO CHURCH located on East State Street. His Voice was a part of their afternoon of music, celebrating twelve years of being a part of the community of Redlands. A parade of choirs had already sung when His Voice gathered on the platform. The acoustics were perfect as the men's chorus sang "The Glory and Majesty of His Name" and other hymns with great conviction and enthusiasm. Sweet music filled the stately sanctuary as the Spirit of God blessed singers and listeners.
.
HERITAGE GARDENS at the intersection of Barton and Benton in Loma Linda was their next stop with seniors and nurses eager to listen to the men's chorus. His Voice sang several hymns and greeted the residents before heading south to Temecula for their evening concert at the United Methodist Church on Margarita Road.
.
His Voice has visited the TEMECULA UNITED METHODIST CHURCH three times in the past few years and before the concert, the ladies of the church lead by Donnie Weaver prepared a soup and salad supper for the hungry singers. Director Michael Naluai led the men in praise songs and shared the mission His Voice has in Mexico. In the past year, they have donated time and funds to rebuild a Mexican orphanage and school in Baja California. During the children's story by Tenor Bob Ferguson, Baritone Zeke Vieira played his violin, accompanied by Pianist Jerry Albritton, while Tenor Jay Robinson sang a solo in "All through the Night." Throughout the concert day, several singers sang solos including Baritone Don Troyer, Tenor Ron Tkalec, Bass Harold Van Dyke, and Tenor Mario Roche.
.
It was past sunset when the last concert ended and in spite of long hours and weak knees there was no question that God had abundantly blessed all, listeners and singers alike.  On the drive back home, in the stillness of the night, the words from Psalm 8 echoed, "LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!"
