It's Friday morning ...
and the memories of last night's recording session for His Voice are still fresh in my mind. While roving around the Valley Church sanctuary taking pictures I was volunteered to help record a practice session. Coming from a long of want-a-be's I was flattered to get this opportunity and as you can see from the picture above I was really having fun pushing buttons -- record, pause, play -- in the recording booth. Pastor Vadim dutifully instructed me and then a series of grateful singers stopped by to get my picture doing something besides my snoop dog camera duties.
---
All too soon the evening was over and I was told to "finalize" the recording. Without thinking or checking my notes, I pushed finalize, without stopping the tape ... OOPS! Ouch, the evening's songs were gone in a flash and my new career in the recording industry went POOF!
---
But the good news was that although I didn't do my duty so well, there was still was a blessing (honest, Mike!) ... still something worthwhile happening, as the recording session helped every one to be on his best behavior, making the sanctuary ring with the best of His Voice. I thought of the buttons ... stop, finalize, play. If I had just stopped to think. If I had only finalized every recording take! Could this also apply to my heart? Too often my desire to multitask, to do it all, without stopping to take time to listen to His Voice, just doesn't work.

In my head I hear the age-old words, "Let it be written, let it be heard...." Well, almost, Lord! -- Nancy (the Notetaker) Troyer

UPDATE: This just in ... we are happy to report that not all was lost afterall. According to Director Mike, they were later able to retrieve the recording of the men during the recording session -- PTL!
