SUNDOWN VESPERS AT LOMA LINDA UNVERSITY

Sunset was not far away the spring afternoon of Saturday, February 15, 2014, as His Voice were introduced by Loma Linda University Church Pastor Roy Ice.  This was a return trip for the twenty-six strong men's chorus lead by Hawaiian musician Michael Naluai with pianist Jerry Albritton at the sanctuary's Yamaha grand piano.  

 

During the program, Director Mike Nalaui and Baritone Don Troyer shared one of the missions of His Voice of rebuilding an orphanage and school in Baja California, Mexico.  The hour-long LLBN TV televised program at Loma Linda University on 11125 Campus Street was the first concert day His Voice wore their new concert attire of a smart black suit and vest with a lavender shirt and tie.  

 

Following the concert, His Voice two CDs, "Written in Red" and "Almighty God" were shared with the congregation.  His Voice is a faith-based ministry and always welcomes donations but desires that all listeners have a chance to be blessed by music that God has given them.

Meanwhile, Outside the Sanctuary ... The Good Samaritan
The Good Samaritan sculpture, located on the Loma Linda Unversity campus mall in front of the university church, is a graphic representation of the parable told by Jesus in Luke 10:30-37:

"A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him, and departed, leaving him half-dead. Now by chance a priest was going down that road; and when he saw him he passed by on the other side. So likewise a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was; and when he saw him, he had compassion, and went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; then he set him on his own beast and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. And the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper, saying 'take care of him; and whatever more you spend, I will repay you when I come back.'"

The larger-than-life sculpture represents the philosophy of Loma Linda University and Medical Center "to make man whole."  The Good Samaritan sculpture was created by Alan Collins.

REFRESHED IN LANCASTER

The day was almost over when the men of His Voice entered the sanctuary of the Lancaster Adventist Church, this past Saturday evening, to sing for vespers. We all felt a bit fatigued after many miles on the road and programs in Palmdale, Acton, and another part of Lancaster. But as the sounds of praise filled the sanctuary the men seemed to rebound and sing with a new vigor. Their faces brightened with smiles and their voices deepened. There was no question why the men were there. They had come to praise God and within those praises came the strength of God's presence. If you, too, find yourself down ... maybe even depressed, start singing His songs. Lift your hands and the corners of your mouth to sing directly to Him and you will be amazed and definitely refreshed. After all, He's right there, loving you!
