.
Shortly after enjoying a delightful lunch in Glendale, His Voice headed east for their next concert at the University Church in Loma Linda. The seventy-mile ride from Los Angeles to San Bernardino county was thankfully uneventful and His Voice arrived in time for their 2:30 PM preliminary sound-check for the 4:00 PM LLBN live telecast.

The University Church congregation recently celebrated their 80th anniversary with a complete renovation including the addition of the largest pipe organ in San Bernardino County. The sanctuary was inspiring to any visitor with its remarkable sound performance as well as lofty aesthetics, but when the concert began and the men shared their Saviour in music the warmth of witness came through in blessed recognition.
.
His Voice Director Michael Naluai opened the vespers concert directing the men in an A Capella rendition of "Holy, Holy, Holy." Later, tenors Mario and Anesio blended their voices in a spirited southern gospel duet. His Voice pianists Sonia Dias and Joyce Leal, and Karen Knight, His Voice Director of Scheduling accompanied the chorus in grand style together. The hour-long vespers concert gave His Voice a chance to share many of their favorite songs including, "Glory, Satisfied, Christ is the Rock, No More Night, and last but not least, Almighty God."

As the evening vespers came to an end, it was evident that the LLUMC theme, "Many Talents, One Mission" translated well for His Voice with its many voices and heavenly mission to "Sing God's Love and Follow His Voice.

BLESSINGS, there are so many!

.
This past Thursday evening at the Valley Adventist church in Sun City, the men of His Voice had their last rehearsal of the year with Director Mike Naluai and accompanists Sonia Diaz and Joyce Leal.
.
This has been a good year for His Voice, traveling thousands of miles around Southern California and as far north as Vancouver, Washington. The men have given up an evening a week and a weekend a month to be together and praise God.
.
They have introduced to you their first recording Written in Red and look forward to sharing another CD in 2009 with songs of their Saviour. They have said their hellos and goodbyes to new and old friends and have continued to drive during gas hikes and economic downturns in spite of job layoffs and family emergencies.
.
They have enjoyed tasting the bounty at generous churches and found new friends to remember and pray for while being spared close-calls with car accidents and near-fatal health conditions.
.
And for all these blessings of "singing God's love and following His voice" the family of His Voice thanks you for listening, for God is good!
.
This Christmas may you enjoy
the blessings of Jesus,
there are so many!
.
Gratefully,
.

I CAN'T SING!

Recently, I received a reply from a friend who I asked to join His Voice Facebook. His three word reply, "I can not sing" got me thinking.

I thought back to when I was just a wee thing (ahem) and how I prayed that God would give me a voice to sing. I was asking for an advance on Heaven ... to sing for Him now.

I began with the toothbrush song to the tune of "My Bonny Lies Over the Ocean." Sounds silly now but I remember it like it was yesterday. Since then I have sung in the shower, walking down an empty street, in the car, on my folk's phone message system, and in the cathedrals of Europe (they were empty but have great acoustics).

A couple of years ago I joined a large neighborhood choir. I had always avoided choirs as I thought singing was about showing off my voice, sounding good, looking pretty. I was wrong - this is what I learned and what I told my non-singing friend, "Every one can sing -- it's a heart thing. Start practicing now for Heaven. Being a member of His Voice Facebook really isn't about good voices or even music, it's about lifting up Jesus in praise. The Holy Spirit will translate the sounds of your voice into His voice!"

I sing your praises precious Jesus! Zephaniah 3:17.

- Nancy, the Notetaker, Troyer

PS: Now, if you are still reading this and are willing to try out a membership (singing or non-singing) on His Voice Facebook, here's how it works:

1. Go to http://www.facebook.com/
2. Sign up for your own facebook
3. Then in the search block on the upper right-hand corner of your facebook page, type in "His Voice"
4. Scroll down to see a men's choir picture and click on that
5. You should be directed to His Voice Facebook
6. Sign up and share this with your friends

If you don't, it's alright,
no big catastrophe will hound you,
but then if you do, you just might be blessed!

Sharing Wings - North Bound

The next 3 posts are from our Portland Trip - Enjoy!
LAST FRIDAY, DAY 1:
The north-bound trip began with the family of His Voice Men's Chorus heading for Portland, Oregon. Once on the ground, most of them headed for Vancouver, Washington, just over the river. This trip was the second in three years to the Chorus Festival and everyone was excited. After settling in hotel rooms and host family homes, His Voice headed for a warm meal and an evening of choral practice at the Vancouver Seventh-day Adventist Church. The weekend was just unfolding -- from early morning flights for many, long days on the road for others, unfamiliar but cushy night-time beds, and music coming from everywhere. Memories are made of times like these!
