Unbroken Circles

Thursday night, April 2, was another practice evening for His Voice at the Valley Church. Director Mike continued to prepare the men for their Murrieta Hot Springs Retreat Concert later this month plus sharing a few favorite songs from previous retreats. As the evening practice drew to a close the men and their wives formed a circle of prayer to talk to God together.

A birthday celebration followed in the fellowship room for His Voice Baritone Chaplain Sherman Jefferson with his wife Millie at his side. The two events seemed to flow seamlessly together, unbroken by God's grace.

Hawaiian Tunes Fill Sanctuary

Last night at His Voice practice, the sound of tropical melodies was heard in the sanctuary of Valley Adventist Church in Sun City. Director Mike Naluai taught the men some of his favorite Hawaiian songs in preparation for their concert at the Nazarene Retreat in Murrieta Hot Springs next month.

After a night of singing sacred hymns with Karen Knight on the piano and later Hawaiian tunes with Director Mike on the ukulele and His Voice Tenor Mario Rocha on the guitar, the men gathered in a tight circle lifting up prayer requests received on the website and at the weekend concerts. It was good to be together and to be sharing with the Saviour!

Mountain Memories at Forest Falls

After visiting a senior resort in Yucaipa, His Voice journeyed up the mountain on Highway 38 towards Big Bear Lake. About halfway up the winding highway, the caravan turned off and drove into the enchanting area of Forest Falls, 'Little Yosemite.' The tiny Seventh-day Adventist church is nestled snugly in the woods and as His Voice stepped over the threshold they were greeted with the unmistakable warmth of Christian fellowship.

With the aroma of pine filling the little sanctuary, His Voice began their concert a Capella circling the country congregation (above) as they sang their first hymn. Following the soulful sounds of men's voices blending into harmony, His Voice pianists Sonia Dias and Joyce Leal and organist Karen Knight with Director Mike Naluai (below) joined in the Sabbath serenade.



The afternoon vespers concert continued past sun set as His Voice ended their March concert day appropriately with 'No More Night.' It was the pleasure of the men's chorus to share with the mountain congregation some of Heaven's music, a generous supper, and the warmth of new friendships.

Silver Moments at Golden Oaks

It was early afternoon when His Voice arrived at the Golden Oaks Senior Center on Oak Glen Road in Yucaipa for their March 14 afternoon concert.

.

The men and their families were surprised as they entered the senior center to view an elegant lobby with many happy seniors ready and waiting. As the men took their places on the stairs, Director Mike Naluai gently lead them singing, 'Holy, Holy, Holy" with many other hymns to follow. The ladies and a few gentlemen clapped along with the fast songs and relaxed in the slow ones. It was obvious from the vitality of the men of His Voice that everyone was having a good time.

As folk stood up to leave the seniors and singers chatted together and thanked the men's chorus for a lovely afternoon and the "Written in Red" CDs.

Gathering Strength at Arden Hills

The pictures above capture a bit of the morning of March 14, when His Voice visited Arden Hills Seventh-day Adventist Church in Highland, California. Scattered above are snapshots of special moments throughout the morning.

The men and families of His Voice walked by waterfalls, fountains, and new life budding on bare trees on their way to the sanctuary and their first concert of the day. Inside they experienced much more because this day wasn't just about the sound of men singing, or the acoustics, or the generous dinner given by the ladies of the church. Together everything pointed to the faithfulness of God that He has given great strength as we gather together each new Sabbath.

Mountain Serenades

His Voice will begin Saturday morning, March 14, sharing God's love in the foothills of the San Bernardino and San Gabriel mountains in Highland, California. The men's chorus will share their hour-long concert during the eleven o'clock worship hour at the Arden Hills Adventist Church on Arden Avenue.

Following the two o'clock concert at Yucaipa's Golden Oaks senior care center on Glen Oaks Avenue, His Voice will head up the mountain for a Sabbath evening vespers concert in "Little Yosemite" at the Forest Falls Adventist Church starting at four in the afternoon.

.
