OASIS IN TIME - PALMS, PRAYER, AND PRAISE

The men and families of His Voice had enjoyed the fellowship of believers at a Palm Springs morning worship service and later in the afternoon with appreciative retirees of Hallmark Palm Springs.  As the men's chorus entered the spacious sanctuary of the Desert Palms Oasis Adventist Church, Associate Pastor Paul Savino welcomed the men to Sabbath vespers, Saturday, March 15, 2014.

On the outside of the church facing the busy thoroughfare, three crosses framed its windows accented by the trumpeting angels of Revelation.  But it was inside the sanctuary across a crowd of pews that the visitors noticed an intriging and colorful picture beckoning them, titled the "Lighthouse of the Valley Prayer Wall."  From a distance one could see a luminous gold cross hovering above a tiny lighthouse surrounded by dark blue swirls of color but on the surface of the poster in bold black ink were written many words, people's names, precious friends heavy on the hearts of the caring church family.

As the vespers began, the men of His Voice surrounded the listeners singing, "Holy, Holy, Holy" with Director Michael Naluai leading their voices, at first very soft and then swelling to mighty praise.  Then the men gathered on the podium steps as Pianist Jerry Albritton touched the grand piano keys introducing songs of praise to God.  The concert continued and the men, though weary from many miles and hours of singing, lifted their hands and voices in joyful praise.  It was indeed a very good Sabbath day, an oasis in time to come close to the God.

Along with a thriving church family of 400, they also have two sucessful youth ministries, Desert Adventist Academy and Boehm Child Development Center. Church website > http://palmdesertoasis.adventistfaith.org/   Academy website > http://desertadventist22.adventistschoolconnect.org/ and Child Development Center website >

A few years back, the "Lighthouse of the Valley" prayer wall was hung in many churches across the Coachella Valley.  Faiths of all kinds were encouraged to write the names of people they had heavy on their hearts.  At the Adventist Church in Palm Desert some people listed on the prayer wall have passed away, others have turned out to be beautiful answers to prayer, shown by gold cross stickers.

Here is Palm Desert Oasis Lighthouse of the Valley prayer wall close up ... notice the names with crosses ... beautiful answers to prayer!

The Desert Palms Oasis church is the winter church home for many folks from the north who are seeking a warmer winter.  These "Snow Birds" from Seattle were gracious enough to stop and pose for a picture.

HOME AT HALLMARK PALM SPRINGS

After His Voice finished their morning worship concert at the Palm Springs Seventh-day Adventist Church on South Sunrise, they traveled up the street to Hallmark Palm Springs, an exclusive assisted living facility with beautiful views of the mountains around Palm Springs.  The men's chorus began their concert around 2:30 PM and enjoyed interacting with the residents in their entertainment room.  Enjoy the photos below

WORSHIP IN SCRIPTURE & MUSIC AT PALM SPRINGS

Saturday, March 15, 2014, His Voice drove down the mountain to worship with the residents of the Coachella Valley.  In the morning, they shared the gospel with the Seventh-day Adventist congregation of the Palm Springs at 620 South Sunrise Way.  As so often happens in Palm Springs, the sanctuary was filled with "snow birds" who come every winter to warm up - some as far away as Canada . Before His Voice began their worship concert, Pastor Mike Leno spoke on the "Letter to a Chosen Lady" spoken of in the second book of John.

After a bountiful potluck of vegetarian casseroles and delicious desserts at the Palm Springs church, the men's chorus sang to the senior residents of Hallmark Palm Springs and then drove on to Palm Desert for a vespers concert at the Palm Desert Oasis Adventist Church.  Pictures from those concerts will appear in a separate news story.

If you would like to view this beautiful morning worship service, including Pastor Leno's sermon (Worship in Scripture) and the His Voice concert (Worship in Music) go to http://palmspringsadventistchurch.com/dir/videos/

A NIGHT OF WORSHIP AT SADDLEBACK

Tuesday evening, February 25, 2014, His Voice traveled south into Orange County for their second visit to the faith community of Saddleback.  This evening they arrived at Clubhouse 7 off Moulton Parkway in Laguna Woods in time to enjoy some good food and friendly faces before the concert.
.
The evening concert "A Night of Worship" began with His Voice surrounding the colorful tables full of chatting guests and filling the room with the rich sound of men's voices as they sang at first softly and then filling the whole room with the grand praise of,  "Holy, Holy, Holy."
.
Toward the end of the concert, Saddleback Pastor Dick Whitton lead those gathered in a Communion service with small glasses of grape juice and single discs of soup crackers as he read the story of the Last Supper.
.
Some of the community heard His Voice earlier in January and enthusiastically shared with the men some of their favorite songs from the "Written in Red" and "Almighty God" CDs.  Others came for the first time and were delighted to receive gift CDs to take His Voice home with them.
.
Although, the journey  down the crowded freeways into Orange County was long, the evening interwoven with praises to God, words from the Holy Scripture, and prayer circles with new friends were sweet reminders of the presence of Jesus.

Below are a few photos from that evening.
